Garden to Table Seedling Sale 2026 with T&G Global
This year, the Garden to Table Seedling Sale is taking place from 19–23 October 2026 and is proudly sponsored by T&G Global with seeds and seed raising mix supplied by Tui. Over 90 schools and kura nationwide are growing seedlings with their students, ready to sell to their local communities.
What is the Seedling Sale?
The Garden to Table Seedling Sale is one of our biggest annual fundraisers for schools. Rather than a sausage sizzle or a raffle, schools raise funds the Garden to Table way: by growing something real, with their own hands, and sharing it with their community.
Each participating school grows a range of seedlings over several months in the lead-up to the sale. When sale week arrives, the whole community is invited in to buy plants their own tamariki have grown from seed.
Every dollar raised goes straight back into that school's Garden to Table programme, helping cover the cost of kitchen and garden equipment so the programme can keep running strong for the tamariki who come after.
More than a fundraiser
For our ākonga (students), the sale is a hands-on lesson long before the first plant is sold. Over the weeks of sowing seeds, pricking out seedlings, and tending them as they grow, students build real skills in gardening, patience, and care for living things.
They're also getting a first taste of financial literacy, pricing plants, handling sales, and seeing how their effort translates into funds for their own classroom and garden. This learning ties into our "Deep Pockets, Hōhonu te Pūkoro" resource. And many of the seedlings grown are the same vegetables and herbs tamariki will later harvest, cook, and share at the table.
