Super Seedling Sale gets underway, with Tui

A record 113 schools and kura are taking part in our 2023 Garden to Table Seedling Sale, supported by our partner Tui. Ka rawe – that's awesome and more than double the record set last year.

This annual event is a chance for schools to raise funds, by selling locally and sustainably grown seedlings to their community. It’s also a chance to action the learnings from our recently released financial literacy resource Deep Pockets, Hōhonu te Pūkoro.

The official date for our 2023 Garden to Table Seedling Sale is any day/s during the week of 16-20 October (the second week of Term 4). However, a few schools opt to hold their sale at different times and in combination with other events such as their school fair or Country Calf Club Day.

Over recent months, tamariki across the motu have been getting ready for the Seedling Sale. They’ve been eagerly planting seeds and carefully tending to seedlings. Our partner Tui kick-started their efforts by donating free Tui Seed Raising Mix to every Garden to Table school that registered. Ngā mihi nui, Tui.

Every dollar raised during the Seedling Sale goes directly to supporting that school’s Garden to Table programme and enables them to buy essential kitchen and garden equipment and supplies.

Check out the list of participating schools below – and please support Garden to Table students in your local community.

It’s a win-win situation for you and for them – by buying their specially grown plants, you’re welcoming spring into your own kitchen and garden AND you’re helping Kiwi kids learn to grow, harvest, share, and prepare nutritious, seasonal kai. Ka pai.
