Celebrating Our 15th Anniversary –  Enjoy our Annual Report 2024

2024 marked a significant milestone for Garden to Table as we turned 15. From Matariki last year, we’ve been celebrating 15 years of empowering tamariki across Aotearoa New Zealand to grow, harvest, prepare, and share fresh, seasonal kai. Our latest Annual Report is bursting with stories of impact, community and connection — from the latest Principals Survey results, to our ‘Longest Lunch’ nationwide school celebrations and special birthday event at Government House.

In 2024, 34,230 tamariki across 326 schools participated in hands-on learning that connects children to te taiao (the environment), positively impacts their hauora (health and well-being) and enriches learning across the curriculum. With exciting new initiatives like our Taste Explorers resource, growing numbers in early childhood and special schools, and ongoing regional growth, 2024 was filled with so many beautiful moments of learning and connection.

Tamariki experiencing the Taste Explorers Resource

Tamariki are always at the centre of our mahi and this report features a new section that includes their feedback, reflections and learning in the many forms that takes – including a rap! Sarah Mirams, Principal of East Tāmaki School said it beautifully in her speech as her school celebrated 15 years of Garden to Table, “I would also like to acknowledge and thank our students—past and present—who have been part of this journey. They are the ones who water the plants, watch them grow, harvest them and then prepare and share them in the kitchen all with lots of energy and enthusiasm. They are the future chefs, gardeners, scientists, food technologists and environmental kaitiaki because of Garden to Table.”
