Meet Stephanie

Meet Stephanie Patterson – she volunteers as one of our eight fabulous Garden to Table trustees. Stephanie is a passionate advocate for nutrition and for improving health outcomes for children.

Stephanie is a Recruitment Specialist with around 20 years of experience in the sector. As much as Stephanie enjoys her work, she also loves being in the garden. “To be able to grow fresh vegetables and flowers is therapy and joy all rolled into one. I have a prolific veggie garden at home and I love the sustainability of it. Veggies don’t need much done to them to be delicious and good for you!”

Stephanie’s own health journey over the years inspired her to learn more about nutrition. She says it was a real eye opener. “Studying nutrition and juggling parenthood gave me an insight into how much good, simple food positively impacts on your overall health and wellbeing. It was during this time that I heard about Garden to Table and I really wanted to get involved in some way.”

Stephanie says “My role as a trustee allows me to use my broad professional experience and to share my HR (human resources) expertise and guidance with the Trust. There is a diverse range of skillsets and backgrounds within our board of trustees but we work together in unity with a common purpose, passion and commitment. Volunteering for Garden to Table fills my cup!”

Stephanie says growing and understanding the full life cycle of our food is key to better health outcomes – especially for our children. “Garden to Table helps to empower children and their families with this knowledge. Being able to contribute to this wonderful mahi is really special to me.”

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe – Thank you Stephanie.

The Garden to Table Charitable Trust was established in 2008. Our board of trustees has eight volunteers. You can learn more about Stephanie and our other volunteer trustees here.
