A garden build with Tui

Garden supplies brand Tui has been supplying quality home garden products for green-fingered gardeners across Aotearoa for more than 100 years.

With the goal of empowering the next generation of young gardeners, Tui have been kindly supporting Garden to Table for 8 years.

What started out as a product donation to our Trust has grown substantially over the years – and today we’re proud to have a mutually beneficial partnership with Tui. Together, we’re empowering Kiwi kids to grow, harvest, prepare, and share nourishing kai.

Every year, the Tui team (who are based in the Bay of Plenty) participate in a Garden to Table session at a local school. This represents an opportunity for Tui to come together with Garden to Table tamariki, and have fun in the garden and kitchen together.

This week, Tui headed along to Rangiuru School, based just outside of central Te Puke.

In honour of Tui’s staff Sustainability Week, the Tui team helped Rangiuru students set up new garden beds from kiwifruit bins. Together, they prepared, lined, filled, and planted these wonderful new beds that will be perfect for growing and harvesting fresh kai.

They were even able to plant a few fresh vegetables to get them started, using seedlings donated by Zealandia.

Through the whole experience, the tamariki had plenty of questions for the Tui team, and proudly showed off what they’ve been learning from Garden to Table over recent weeks.

Rangiuru is one of the Bay of Plenty’s newest Garden to Table member schools – so this will go a long way in helping the school develop and embed a strong programme that will help tamariki develop vital life skills.

Looking ahead, along with providing valued support for our Trust that will help us expand our work across the motu, Tui is supporting our annual Seedling Sale. This sees schools plant, tend to, and sell seedlings to raise funds for their Garden to Table programme. Stay tuned as we share more about this, and as we continue to celebrate our partnership.

Ngā mihi maioha, Tui!
